art with sticks
A summer storm with crazy high winds, a bradford pear tree that lost the battle and a saw-wielding brother-in-law cutting the tree into manageable pieces left piles of branches that wanted to be a treehouse.
Moving the branches into piles for burning turned into wondering how I might tie them together to make a niece-sized playhouse.
After the first few branches were tied together without putting out an eye or puncturing a limb the rest was easy and a lot of fun. I let the branches tell me where they wanted to play. The connections were tied with wire then covered with strips of burlap.
If the fairies are to feel at home I supposed the treehouse could use some shiny bits to make it sparkle. A bag of crafty seaglass, sinkers inspired by mother's fishing tackle, copper flashing and copper plated nails from Lowes, a crystal drawer pull and a pair of keys all added to the shiny.
