Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I'm an artist and traveler living in Wilmington, North Carolina.

From home to every groovy destination it’s all about art. Just art. -

Tuesday was a great day for me and the markers. I had the opportunity to provide graphic recording for the White House Forum on Nonprofit Leadership hosted by the Red Cross in Washington, DC. It was a draw-as-fast-as-you-can sort of day.

Read about the event from The Chronicle of Philanthropy and the Red Cross Blog.

Many thanks to Rafael Lopez from The Annie E. Casey Foundation and Tracey Rutnik from The Aspen Institute  (pictured with me) for inviting The Value Web to provide the graphic recording. I was proud to be The Value Web member to participate.

The Red Cross HQ in Washington was a beautiful venue for the event and for a history lesson. The room that filled with 200+ participants from around the nonprofit sector and beyond was the same room that sheltered wounded soldiers and their caretakers during the Civil War.

Reading the news or a website about the efforts of nonprofits doesn't compare to being in the room with people from the front lines with their many vantage points and personal experiences. They're smart, inspiring, hopeful and leading from the heart.

Pictured below are illustrations from remarks given by Gail McGovern, CEO of the Red Cross and Ken Chenault, CEO of American Express. More illustrations may be viewed in The Value Web flickr gallery.
