then appears the oracle
The sketchbook layering continues.
So far I've found a sort of superhero, a pool of serenity, a brain freeze, a magic cookie jar and an oracle.
Before the oracle came there was this roll of wire. It's a sort of tube of meshy wire that when cut and stretched makes some interesting shapes. The hardware store is going to have some official sounding name and use but to me it will always be the roll of meshy-wire-tube stuff.
I cut a length from the roll. Cut again to end the tubeness and then started stretching. I layered the stretched mesh into the journal with some gel medium, allowed it to dry and layered more paint.
It wasn't until I returned from layering on another page that I happened to rotate the book and see how the stretchy mesh wanted to be a hat. A headpiece. A helmet. A chain mail helmet. A knitted cap. Whatever.
Not sure which it turned out to be but it looks cool.
The face that appeared below the whatever became the face of an oracle. Don't know why she's an oracle. Just is.
When you're drawing in a sketchbook with a title like 'Encyclopedia of No Particular Stream of unConsiousness' you don't question. Just go with it. Or take a break at the hardware store.
Draw, paint, smear paint, scrape paint off, draw some more, tear some paper, paste some stuff, spill some ink, scribble on some drivel, turn the page... repeat.
Now back to layering!
