the gifts that keep on inspiring
My mother and my uncle John surprised me with a thoughtful, creative, precious and inspiring gift at Christmas.
Some time ago I told my mother about my frustration with one of my journals...loved the leather cover but didn't care for the paper inside. She was inspired and enlisted her brother to help construct this gift.
The leather covers are made to fit the spiral binding and are also removable so I can reuse them over and over again. The paper inside, a 90lb mixed media surface, is groovy too.
After happy hugs and thank-yous I'm nearly certain the next thing I said to my mom was, "you know I'm going to draw on this." This statement was no revelation to her.
Many things make this journal especially precious. My family made it. My family who knows me made it just for me. It inspired me to consider how I might construct another journal cover.
Receiving this gift also reminded me of how many gifts I've received in my life–creative gifts from my family, made by them.
When I think of how much I enjoy making gifts and gifting my art to my family and friends, I'm grateful for their example, creativity, inspiration and so many expressions of love.
